As the channel is sent to Coventry this week (For CRN Connect) – there’s another great reason – CompTIA’s 1st channel meet

May 10, 2011

On the eve of CRN Connect in Coventry this Thursday, another exciting bit of channel networking and knowledge sharing has come to light in that – CompTIA, a global IT trade association is co-locating its inaugural channelfest with CRN Connect.

We caught up with CompTIA’s Adam Harris to find out more.

“After the transition period from TCA into CompTIA we are now in the process of launching the UK channel Community, this community will drive best practice, benchmarking and research throughout the Channel.

“During my time at TCA I attempted on many occasions to kick start such an initiative but didn’t have the resources to do it.  Now with the global reach of CompTIA as a not for profit we have both the resources and funds to drive it forward.  If you are able to attend that would be great.”

Hopefully you’ll catch up with him in Coventry later this week – if not you can reach him here: aharris[at]comptia[dot]org or +44 (0) 7779 714 387.

Here’s an overview of event itself.

The inaugural face-to-face UK Channel Community meeting and the long standing EU IT Services and Support Community meetings will be held in conjunction with CRN’s Partner Connect event on the 12th and 13th May 2011 at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. On the 12th, CompTIA will be exhibiting at CRN’s Partner Connect event and Todd Thibodeaux, CompTIA’s CEO will also be delivering a seminar. Straight after the CRN event, we’ll be running a networking drinks reception for all attendees. The following morning, starting at 8:30, we’ll be holding our face to face community meetings.

The UK Channel Community was created to give a voice to the concerns, issues, and positions of IT channel resellers, distributors and vendors in the United Kingdom. The group is currently forming, but will focus on best practices, business fundamental education and resources for companies engaged in the creation and delivery of IT services and solutions. The community will provide members and industry participants with an opportunity to pursue common goals for their industry through the development of CompTIA funded or managed initiatives; such as building business specific education programs and fostering best practices.
