Rainmaker Files hosts “New Economics” Roundtable at IP EXPO

September 21, 2012

Martin Hingley and Puni Rajah are hosting a roundtable discussion at this year’s IP EXPO about the new economics of storage infrastructure in the era of big data (or savage data, if you prefer).

The discussion will focus on strategies to increase performance and resilience in large installations. Participants will explore how IT professionals can efficiently and cost-effectively meet the increasing demand for storage capacity and performance.

In an article about the roundtable, Rajah writes:

“Earlier this year, we started looking at the role of storage hypervisors in large storage installations. Where is the pain line, and how are storage architects designing for the new economic environment? What adjustments should in-house storage designs incorporate to work with data ‘in the cloud’ to ensure seamless user experience? And are storage vendors keeping up with the unravelling complexity facing their customers?”

Rajah identifies four fundamental areas where storage performance and cost efficiencies can be found: disk array, appliance, network and server hypervisor.

The roundtable will address these issues and more.

If you would like to be involved with this roundtable discussion, please email editor@ipexpo.co.uk.

Registration Now Open for VMworld Europe 2012

June 20, 2012

Registration has opened for VMworld Europe 2012, to be held in Barcelona, Spain from October 9th to the 11th. The early bird registration deadline is July 20th, so register now for the best rates.

As we mentioned on the Countdown2StorageExpo blog back in February (here), the dates of VMworld Europe and IP EXPO no longer clash—great news for anyone with a foot in both the VMworld and IP EXPO camps. As always, we will be covering both events on this website and our sister blogs (see the blogroll on the right-hand side of the page).

Clash of the vTitans of events over: VMworld Europe moves to 9-11 October away from IP EXPO dates

February 4, 2012

By Rose Ross, AKA @Rose_at_O

Well that is a relief for everyone with a foot in both the VMworld and IP EXPO camps. After a clash of dates last year! (We felt your pain!) VMworld dates have moved to 9-11 October http://www.vmworld.com/index.jspa a week or so before www.ipexpo.co.uk on 17-18 October 2012.

This means we don’t need to invent a time machine or cloning technology before the Fall. Instead we can relax and top up our tans in Barcelona and enjoy some vBeers and a few siestas before hitting the showfloor at Earls Court 2 by day and the Atlas pub for #storagebeers by night.

The team is unclear as to why the dates have moved but like many others who’d love to be at both and those who exhibit at both it is a welcome respite.

Hooray!
